New York based VICE drops in on the subject of Federal recognition in their article “The California Tribe the Government Tried to Erase in the 60’s”.

VICE was on site during Nisenan Heritage Day in 2017 at Sierra College NCC. They were given specific rare permission by the dance group to take photos that would be shown nationally and did in-depth interviews and photo shoots with NCR Tribal members and Elders.

National exposure is critical for restoration of Federal recognition. National visibility really is the only way a Federal Congressperson in say, Iowa, might learn about the Nisenan and their “contribution” to the shape and wealth of America. Once aware, this critical information may positively influence their vote.

Thank you to Avery White and Brooke Schueller for this incredible coverage.
